RECUPYL and Battery Solutions in the United States - (20/07/2010)
RECUPYL, the leading group in battery recycling technology, breaks into North America with the establishment of RECUPYL BATTERY SOLUTIONS , a joint venture with the Michigan-based leading actor in battery recycling, Battery Solutions Inc. This new company is dedicated to developing American local recycling for batteries.
Two mechanical lines for both alkaline and lithium-ion batteries of a total capacity with a five million lbs/year are operating from Brighton, Michigan.
While RECUPYL was initially specialized in portable batteries such as for phones or laptops, RECUPYL BATTERY SOLUTIONS will also focus on recycling batteries for electric vehicles including processing scraps. This development is made possible by the company's new technologies in recycling advanced electrode materials such as those found in hybrid and electric vehicle batteries which will lead in a significant increase in demand.
RECUPYL turns waste to "new mine" resources and thus transform scrap to into valuable materials for re-use, closing the loop and creating a "new urban mine." It specializes in implementing industrial processes with low energy consumption, minimum airborne environmental emissions and with very low direct or indirect CO2 emissions. Due to flexibility, low capital investment and high returns, RECUPYL technology offers the possibility to locate recycling facilities close to the waste streams - in this case centered in Michigan.
